Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, I am accepting new clients. I am serving clients by offering virtual sessions only. This will ensure that you continue to have access to care and don’t have to be concerned about possible exposure in waiting rooms, offices, etc.
When will you begin seeing clients in the office?
At this time, social distancing continues to be one of the best ways to care for my clients. So, until I’m convinced that meeting in the office is safe for you and your family, I will continue to host therapy via telehealth / virtual sessions.
What are telehealth / virtual sessions?
I offer individual counseling and couples counseling virtually using a HIPAA-compliant platform for those clients who live in the state of Texas. Some insurance plans cover both in-person and telehealth sessions. Before your first session, you will receive instructions regarding the software to download onto your cell phone, tablet, or laptop. To participate in the telehealth sessions, I require that you are in a place where you can speak freely and you cannot be driving.
Are virtual therapy sessions different than in-person therapy sessions?
The sessions are the same. Many clients prefer virtual sessions because you don't have to leave work early, grab a quick bite to eat, fight traffic to get to appointments and drive home afterward. Instead, you arrange your schedule so you can arrive home and have your session in the comfort of your home. If you have smaller children and you are able to occupy their time for 50-minutes, most parents find it is easier to manage virtual appointments.
How long should I expect to be in therapy?
The number of sessions differs per person based on the severity of the issues and per couple based on the nature of the relationship. In our first session and throughout our time together, we will routinely discuss the progress of therapy to ensure you are experiencing a positive outcome.
What are your hours?
I see clients on an appointment-only basis from 9 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
We've postponed our wedding due to the pandemic. Do you offer brief premarital counseling?
Yes, I can customize 4 one-hour premarital counseling sessions just for you. In these sessions, we will cover sex, finances, roles, expectations, communication, and much more.
What is it like to work with you?
My goal as your therapist is to provide you with a safe and caring environment to evaluate your life and to provide you with some tools, helpful insights, and interventions to help you with daily living. I will provide you with a comfortable space to laugh, to be yourself, and to freely express yourself without judgment. We will work together collaboratively to ensure your needs are being met and I will solicit your feedback along the way.
What is couples counseling?
I provide couples counseling via video and in-person. During these sessions, we discuss the topics most important to you for the health of your relationship. For most couples, there are a series of couple sessions and individual sessions to delve into possible historic events that may be impacting your relationship. Working collaboratively, you, your significant other, and I will discuss your needs and craft a plan to focus on specific areas. Couples counseling can be facilitated via video regardless if you are in the same location.
When do I pay for the session?
The session fee is collected at the beginning of each in-person session. If you have a telehealth / virtual session, the session fee is collected before the virtual session is initiated.
Can I send you text messages?
Yes, after our first session, you will have the ability to send me text messages, copies of your journal, or other related items you'd like to send 24/7. I will respond to all messages received within 24 hours. However, be patient when it takes a little longer to respond because I may be with other clients or attending to personal matters. **Text messages are sent using a HIPAA-compliant platform only. Regular test messaging can be used for appointment scheduling or changes only.
Which insurance plans do you accept?
Currently, I am accepting United Healthcare/Optum clients.
